AT THE WORKBENCH
CanePath support
Help with your seat map, strand records, backups and Pro.
Which seats are supported?
Rectangular hand-caning frames with matching opposite rails and 3–16 non-corner holes per rail. Count between corners; the app adds BL, BR, FL and FR separately. B/F numbers run left to right; L/R numbers run back to front. Pressed cane, round or irregular seats are not supported.
Does it teach every weaving move?
The app records your work and displays schematic routes. It does not calculate crossings, tension or diagonal fish heads. Use the linked full instructions in Guide, inspect your actual frame, and choose diagonal endpoints yourself.
How do I resume or correct a strand?
Open your chair and Continue weaving. Choose a stage and a remaining strand to set your resume point. Record strand marks it completed. Undo last recorded restores the last completion. In the strand list you can reopen a completed strand and edit or remove manual diagonals.
What is free?
Three saved chairs plus one example, seat maps, weaving records, notes, photos, editing, JSON backups/imports and recovery. Archived and imported chairs count when creating another chair. Imports are allowed above the limit so restoring your data never requires a purchase. Existing work stays accessible.
What does Pro unlock?
A one-time non-consumable purchase unlocks unlimited new chairs and printable project PDFs. The intended UK price is £6.99; Apple shows your local price before purchase. There is no subscription. PDF exports are project references rather than calculated weaving patterns.
Restore Pro
Use Settings → Restore Purchases with the Apple account that bought Pro. An internet connection may be needed. Pending purchases unlock after Apple approves them. If a refund removes Pro, existing projects, editing and JSON backups remain available.
Keep a backup before uninstalling
Open the project actions menu and Export project backup. Keep the JSON file somewhere safe. Settings → Import a project backup adds an independent copy with its photos; it does not replace your current chair. A PDF is for reading and cannot restore a project.
A photo is unavailable
Replace or remove the attachment on the project or journal entry. Journal notes are retained when you remove their photo. Repair missing attachments before exporting a complete JSON backup. Photos are local copies and do not sync between devices through CanePath.
Recovering a damaged library
Settings offers a backup restore or a fresh library while preserving the original files first. Export latest preserved recovery files keeps a ZIP for safekeeping or technical recovery. Normal project imports require a CanePath JSON backup.
